I already have emulations of hardware (ok I get it, it's not an emulation, it's wave samples). The last thing I need is more LFOs and effects. Just to be clear, I fully understand that we won't need to manually map the controls, and it will automatically work in the way the hardware works.įor me though, I have 20 hardware synths and another 100 plugin synths. īest of both worlds for me, the hardware interface and user experience is what makes designing sounds on hardware synths so much fun!

That's actually the most genius thing about this!! Start with creating a patch on the hardware and improve it with more stuff you simply don't have available on the actual synth by messing around in the software! Watch the video, you can see the free racks for more FX or more LFO's.

So while the software exactly matches the hardware in possibilities when creating a patch on your synth, that doesn't mean that you can't edit those patches further inside the software. The "basic" sounds you create replicate all the functions of the hardware but if you want more FX, or more modulations you can just assign those yourself inside the software. So if you want you can assign all the extra stuff in the software yourself. That's why you can create Moog pads and stuff like that! So you can edit them forever, no need to keep the patches on your hardware synths as backup for songs you already made (well, until your computer and plugins get too old that is :p )Īlso, for monophonic synths, you can make them polyphonic because the sounds are generated by the software.

Plus the patches you created stay inside your projects. so you can expand on the sound you created on the hardware. You get so many more LFO's, Envelopes, FX. You will have, at all times, a direct interface and a perfect link between your synth and Omnisphere.Ĭreating the sounds inside Omnisphere opens up a lot more possibilities. To do this, Spectrasonics made some custom interfaces inside Omnisphere so for example the oscillators match the same waveforms on your hardware synth. OS 2.5 promises to EXACTLY match the hardware's interface which was probably a LOT (!) of work and simply can't be replicated in any way by midi mapping. These kind of mismatches are what makes midi mapping a pain in the ass sometimes. but your software has a sawtooth as it's first LFO waveform. Your synth could start with a square waveform for the LFO, followed by a sine. Otherwise, you would have totally different oscillator combinations than those represented on the hardware. For example: if you try to assign the oscillator waveforms it's not possible without a dedicated software panel inside Omnisphere. Genius if I may say so !!!Īlso, with midi mapping, certain parameters often don't match. You just design the sounds on your synth and Omnisphere automatically adjusts itself to match those hardware contols. Every LFO, every FX is replicated automatically inside Omnisphere so you don't need to assign those things for yourself. On top of that, it's MUCH better integrated than simple midi mapping, because the user interface of your hardware interface can be used exactly like it is. It lets you control Omnisphere with your hardware without the need of midi mapping.
